So, I’ve been having some trouble with the gas stove lately. A few weeks ago, I was making some ground turkey. I was trying to tilt the pan so that I could scoop out all the grease into a can and wasn’t paying attention to what I was doing. The next thing I know, my arm hair had been singed off. It didn’t quite occur to me that I shouldn’t have the pan with the grease on one side of the lit burner and the can that I was putting the grease in on the other side. Now I know.

I’d like to say I wouldn’t do it again, but just a couple of days ago, I was trying to multi-task in the kitchen. That is really not my strong suit, but I was trying to maximize my time. I was boiling eggs on one burner, making Amish friendship bread and trying to start something else on the other burner. I had turned on the gas starter and I thought the flame had lit, so I turned the know to medium. A minute or so later, I smelled gas, so I leaned over to look under the pan. I saw that the flame wasn’t actually lit, so I just turned the knob back to the starter and BAM the flame started and almost took off my face. Now I know. Now I really hope it won’t happen again.

In the way of foods that don’t involve the stove, I made an ice cream cake for Keith’s birthday last month and I took pictures of it that I haven’t had a chance to post yet.

It was delicious. We put graham crackers on the bottom, mint chocolate chip ice cream on that, the new York Peppermint Patties Pieces crushed were put on top and then I cut up some strawberries and put them around the top. You can melt butter and mix it with the graham crackers to make a solid crust, but there are enough calories in it as it is. It also would have been very good with some chocolate syrup on the top.
