Indie Biz 3.0 Launch Day!
As you may remember, my mom and I participated in Indie Biz 3.0 handmade business class. We did not finish coming up with the concept for our business, but we are well on our way! The class is over now and many of my classmates are launching the blogs and shops today!

Upcoming Craft Projects
I’m feeling crafty but my mind is going 100 miles a minute. Every time I stumble across a tutorial of something I want to do, I find another blog full of good ideas too. It is snowballing on me, so I decided to make a list of projects I want to actively try to do in the next few weeks.
- Curtains for my entertainment center (I need to hide some of the ugly
- I need to actually quilt my t-shirt quilt. It is tearing a little bit.
- I have a dress that would be much cuter as a shirt.
- A spring cardigan
- I can’t wait to do this!
- Summer dress
- I love the way this dress seems to fit
- A grown up version of this dress
And down the road:
Thrift Store Finds
Well, I still have not found any vintage Pyrex yet but I am still on the lookout. I’m hoping with 80 degree weather this weekend that people will start their spring cleaning and there will be treasures for me to find.
Here is what I did find this weekend:
Several “vintage” sheets to sew with…
I see the second one with the ruffle becoming an apron in its future. I also got a set that fits our bed and our blow up mattress, so I’m not sure if I will cut it up or keep it.
Carl decided he must lay on the sheets…
And then later Lilly decided she must too…
I also indulged and bought some canning jars…
And then, my best find of all was a wicker bag. It says “hand made in Hong Kong” on the tag. I fell in love with it in the store and decided that 6.99 was worth it. I took all of my finds up to the register with me and the first thing the cashier rang up was the bag. The cash register said .99, but I just waited patiently to see if it was a code or something. It turns out–the bag was only .99 cents! Totally worth it now. The date on the tag said February 7th, so I think it had just been sitting there too long.
I think down the road, I might try to re-do the inside with canvas or burlap.
What I Wore Wednesday
I won’t be participating in What I Wore Wednesday very often because…frankly, I wear the same 6ish outfits and that is about it. I particularly like this outfit, so I thought I’d share. (Linking up to The Pleated Poppy.)
Eventually I’ll figure out a better place to take a not blurry picture.
indie-business 3.0
I am so excited because I just signed up for the indie-business 3.0 course that starts tomorrow.
My mom and I have been talking for a while about working on some handmade craft based business that we can do, but we have had some trouble with really focusing down some ideas and having a business plan made. I really think that this course will help us out.
I’ll be posting updates about it after it starts!
Back on the blogging train
Now that graduate school is over (yay!) and our roommate moved out, I have an official craft/sewing room in our spare room. Now I can focus on the things that are important to me.
Even though it is almost the end of February, I thought I’d list some things that I want to get done this year:
- Become proficient with my sewing machine
- Open an Etsy (or Art Fire etc) store for said sewn items
- Blog consistently (including getting on 20 SB)
- Garden
Alright, I don’t want to over commit myself for the year!
